Back Porch Blues is a seven piece band blending Delta, Chicago , and Contemporary Blues with original arrangements to capture energy and passion for the music.
Front man Mike Hebner, a seasoned Blues man to the core, has opened for the likes of Muddy Waters and Freddy King. His bold and throaty vocals and high octane Chicago-style harmonica are the center piece of this band. Sharing vocals center stage is the young and talented Britta Grass who blends harmonies, duets and solos with a dynamic punch. Britta will get your attention and hold it whether belting out upbeat rocking blues or crooning jazzy ballads. Tom Hebner brings a unique second harp to the mix, pulling off duets with Mike and hammering out his own styled solos and rhythms. Tom's jukejoint harp adds a dynamic counter that makes the Hebner brothers leaders in modern blues interpretation. The Band's harmonies are highlighted in harmonica and vocal mixes, providing a polished and emotional sound that boosts 'em high above the standard bar band.
Back Porch Blues believes to do the blues right, a guitar and keyboard combo is essential. Brion Felts is an accomplished musician who plays and sings his way through songbooks of styles and instruments, but has his heart firmly rapped around the keys. From bar room honky-tonk to Fats Waller or Ray Charles, Brion will make you feel every move he makes across his keyboard. Ed Kallaway on drums and Rick Butler on bass are the foundation for this energetic band. Ed and Rick clicked from the first time they put a rhythm down. As the years go by they get better and better at feeling the next move and accomplishing a seamless and amazing sound. You can feel the decades of work these two have put into being a notch above the rest. This duo helps to anchor and define Back Porch Blues as a truly entertaining blues act.
